Men's Cross Country Takes 21st at Iona Meet of Champions

BRONX, N.Y. - The IPFW men's cross country team placed 21st at the 20th Annual Brother John "Paddy" Doyle / Iona College Meet of Champions hosted at the Van Cortlandt Park.
IPFW earned 613 points, just ahead of Dowling and NYIT. Arkansas took first with 46 points, and were followed by Fordham, Brown, UMass Lowell, and Buffalo.
Freshman Gabe O'Keefe led the Mastodons for the third consecutive meet with an 8,000-meter time of 28:56.69, placing him 147th overall. Classmate Bret Unger placed 152nd in a time of 29:07.06 while Kurt Unger placed 160th in 29:28.99.
Garret Gleckler was the fourth Mastodon finisher for the meet with a time of 29:35.63 and 162nd place overall. The scoring five was closed with a 175th place finish from Jordan Holloman, who closed the five miles in a time of 30:33.14.
Ryan Curtis took 181st in a time of 30:53.21, as Paul Smith ran to a time of 31:27.10, placing 186th.
The Mastodons next take to the course on October 4 when the squad travels to Louisville, Kentucky for the Greater Louisville Classic.
