O'Keefe Paces Mastodons at Eastern Illinois

COMPLETE RESULTS
CHARLESTON, Ill. - IPFW freshman Gabe O'Keefe led a trio of Mastodon newcomers in the top five, with the 'Dons placing fifth at the EIU Walt Crawford Open hosted by Eastern Illinois University.
Southern Illinois took the team crown with 23 points, while host Eastern Illinois took second with 40. Murray State (86), Evansville (107), and IPFW (124) rounded out the top five teams in the field.
O'Keefe placed 29th overall in a time of 28:14.30 in his first collegiate 8,000-meter race. Jordan Holloman placed 41st overall in a time of 28:58.10, and Garret Gleckler took 47th in a time of 29:07.00.
Twin brothers Bret and Kurt Unger rounded out the Mastodon top five, Bret placing 52nd in a time of 29:28.20 and Kurt 67th in 30:43.10.
Ryan Curtis placed 80th in a time of 31:49.80, as Travis Lyons placed 104th in a time of 34:37.70.
The Mastodons take an off week before competing at the Iona Meet of Champions in New Rochelle, N.Y.
