EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - The IPFW men's golf team opened its season at the Derek Dolenc SIUE Invitational presented by Doubletree, playing 36 holes on the opening day with a team score of 623 to finish in 15th place.

Hosted by SIUE at the 6,642 yard, par-72 Sunset Hills Country Club, Oral Roberts holds a four-stroke lead with a 585 for the day. Scott Newell of Oral Roberts and Mark Karlsen of Missouri State share the lead with 36-hole scores of 141.

Oliver Gibson leads the Mastodons after day one in a tie for 64th place, shooting a 155. David Watterson finished the 36 holes in a tie for 71st with a score of 157. Playing in his first college tournament, freshman Clark Tiller sits in 77th place, carding a 159. Sitting one stroke back on the day in 78th place is fellow freshman Tyler Meyer. Rounding out the scoring for IPFW in a tie for 83rd place is Drake Devereux with a 163 for the two rounds.

The third and final round of the Derek Dolenc Invitational will be a shotgun start beginning at 9 a.m. on September 9.
