Mastodons Suffer Tough Loss to Oral Roberts

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – IPFW women's soccer was unable to overcome a lone goal from Oral Roberts as the Mastodons fell Sunday afternoon in a Summit League matchup.
The Golden Eagles put up the sole goal of the match in the 63rd minute as Brittney Lawrence scored off a delfelction from Caitlyn Hanslovan's initial shot on goal.
After battling through a scoreless first half, IPFW's best shot at scoring came 16 minutes into the second half when Malissa Hofmeister took back-to-back shots at the goal, but came up short each time.
Kiley Dunning ended the match with eight saves after a stellar diving, leap midway through the second half to keep Oral Roberts from scoring a second goal. Sunday's match was Dunning's 12th match of the season with at least five saves. Dunning entered the weekend tied for 17th in Division I Women's Soccer for most saves per game (6.71).
Hofmeister ended the match with two shots, placing on goal for the 'Dons, while Rachel Good added an additional shot on goal for the team. Oral Roberts edged IPFW 2-1 in corner kicks as the 'Dons placed two shots on goal.
The 'Dons are back in action Friday night against North Dakota State University in Fargo, North Dakota at 8 p.m., followed with a match at South Dakota State two days later. The Mastodons return hom for the final match of the regular season, when they host South Dakota for Senior Night on November 1.
