Dunning’s Double-Digit Saves Not Enough for Mastodons in Fargo
10/23/2015 10:54:00 PM | Women's Soccer
FARGO, N.D. – Kiley Dunning's 12 saves were not enough as the IPFW women's soccer team fell to Summit League leaders North Dakota State, 2-0, on Friday night. Dunning reached double digit saves for the fourth time this season, coming within one save of tying her career high when the Mastodons faced Butler on September 13 earlier this year.
The 'Dons and Bison were in a deadlock for the majority of match, each going scoreless for the opening 80 minutes until North Dakota State earned a pair of goals in the final 10 minutes of the match. NDSU's Britney Monteon earned the opening goal after taking a shot from the left side from 20 yards out. Lauren Miller would put the match away for North Dakota State just five minutes later after taking a shot from just outside the box.
Entering the night, Dunning sat seventh in Division I women's soccer for most saves (109) and ninth in most saves per game (6.71), while leading the Summit League in both categories.
The best looks the 'Dons had all night came early as Katrina Sutherly and Gaby Romo each placed a shot on goal in the 14th minute.
The Blue and White continues its Dakota swing as the Mastodons travel to South Dakota State for a Sunday match, beginning at 12:30 p.m.
