Men's Golf Tied for Eighth After Opening Round

KETTERING, Ohio - After the first round of the Dayton Flyer Invitational, the IPFW men's golf team sits in a tie for eighth place with a combined score of 313. The Mastodons head into the final round tied Morehead State and Butler.

Hosted by Dayton at the par-71, 7,055-yard NCR Country Club - South Course, Oakland holds a four shot lead heading into the final 18 holes with a 303. Austin Winings of IUPUI leads the 100-player field by three strokes carding a 1-under-par 70.

Jacob Groninger led the 'Dons on the day, shooting a 3-over-par 74 to finish tied for third. Devin Jenkins ended the day tied for 31st with a first-round score of 78. Heading into the final round tied for 52nd with a round of 80 is Zach Schroeder. One shot back in a tie for 59th is Oliver Gibson. Tyler Meyer closed out the team scoring for the Mastodons in a tie for 96 with an 89.

Playing as an individual, David Watterson carded an 81 to finish the day tied for 59th.

The final round of the Dayton Flyer Invitational will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 20.
