INDIANAPOLIS - Goals from Erin Gill and Rachel Good turned a 2-0 IPFW deficit into a tie game in the second half, as the Mastodons and IUPUI Jaguars played to a 2-2 tie in the opening Summit League weekend of the season.
Both Gill and Good's goals came off of a play stoppage, Gill's on a free kick while Good's was via a penalty kick. Kiley Dunning had six saves in the tie, as the Mastodons were out-shot 19-to-10 by the Jaguars.
The tie takes IPFW's record to 3-8-2 on the season, and 3-0-2 over the last five matches in which the Mastodons have out-scored their opponents 12-4.
IUPUI struck first in the game when Krissy Kirkhoff scored her seventh goal of the season - second-most in the Summit League this season - off of a Meghan Day assist.
Just over 20 minutes into the second half the hosts struck again to put IUPUI ahead 2-0 after a Grace Perkowitz goal.
The Mastodons needed less than a minute to strike again when Gill scored her second goal of the season on a free kick from just outside the 18-yard box.
Just over ten minutes later, Good scored her third goal of the season on a penalty kick with 13:40 on the clock, knotting the score at two goals apiece.
Kiley Dunning picked up two saves in the final 13 minutes of the match, keeping the Jaguars off of the scoreboard, and sending the match to an extra 10-minute period.
