Schroeder and Groninger Lead Mastodons at CSU Invite

AURORA, Ohio - The IPFW men's golf team closed out the Cleveland State Invitational with a final-round 309 to finish in 12th place.
Hosted by Cleveland State at the par-72, 7,138-yard Barrington Golf Club, Kent State captured the team title with a two-day score of 17-under-par 847. Brandon Pluchinsky of Youngstown State was the tournament medalist with a 54-hole score of 8-under-par 208.
The Mastodons finished 11 strokes behind 11th place Robert Morris and 13 strokes back of 10th place Northern Kentucky.
Jacob Groninger recorded a final-round 76 to finish the tournament at even-par 216 and tie for 11th place. Groninger's three-round score of 216 is tied for the lowest mark by a senior in IPFW men's golf history. Zach Schroeder fired a team-best 73 on the final day to finish tied for 32nd with a two-day score of 223. Tyler Meyer and Josh Keating finished the tournament tied for 72nd with scores of 239, respectively. Daniel Shepard rounded out the scoring for the 'Dons with a 243 to finish tied for 75th.
Devin Jenkins capped off his individual performance with a 36-hole score of 234 to close out the tournament tied for 64th.
IPFW returns to the course for the two-day Kenny Perry Invitational in Bowling Green, Kentucky, October 12 and 13.
