IPFW Powers Past Western Illinois

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW women's volleyball team opening its final home stand of the season with a 3-0 sweep over Western Illinois (25-19, 25-15, 25-19).
Nicole Rightnowar had a match-high 16 kills while hitting .406 for the night for the Mastodons. Lauren Hoffman finished with nine kills and a team-high .444 hitting percentage. Madison Jaqua dished out a game-high 36 assists for the night.
Olivia Hahn ended the night with a match-high 20 digs. Rightnowar, Jaqua, and Somer Johnson had eight digs apiece. Jayna Colanese finished with a career-high three aces for the 'Dons, while Natalie Seiler had a match-high five blocks.
IPFW took the first set after going on an 8-2 run to take control after being tied 11-11 with Western Illinois.
The Mastodons outscored the Leathernecks 10-3 midway through the second set to improve their lead to 18-10 before taking the frame. Rightnowar made nine kills in the second set alone, while the team hit .556.
The 'Dons got off to a rough start in the third set trailing the Leathernecks 7-3. Eleven of Hahn's 20 digs came in the final set as IPFW held off a late rally by WIU to win the match.
IPFW is back in action at home against Omaha on November 13 for a 7 p.m. first serve.
