Mastodons Fall Short to Mavericks at Home

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – IPFW women's volleyball fell 3-1 to Omaha despite strong efforts by the 'Dons (25-21, 27-29, 25-23, 25-13).
Nicole Rightnowar earned her sixth double-double of the season with a career- and match-high 21 kills to go along with 16 digs. Somer Johnson earned her 13th double-double of the season with 13 kills and 13 digs.
Olivia Hahn went for a match-high 30 digs, tying a season-high, while Este Stoffel added 10 digs for the 'Dons. Madison Jaqua had a team-high 47 assists for the night.
IPFW went point-for-point with Omaha after overcoming a three-point disadvantage early in the first set. However, after being tied 11 times, the Mastodons could not overcome the Mavericks as they scored the final four points.
The 'Dons took the second set in extra points after Rightnowar made two back-to-back kills to tie up the match heading into intermission. Trailing 22-16 late in the third set, IPFW cut UNO's lead to one on a 6-1 run, before the Mavs scored the final point.
The Mastodons and Mavericks were tied 4-4 early in the fourth set, but a six-point run by Omaha gave it the set and the match.
IPFW is back in action tomorrow night, November 14, as it hosts South Dakota for a 7 p.m. first serve. Este Stoffel, Sarah Heckman, and Monica Hall will be honored during Senior Night festivities before the match.
