Mastodons Tie for Ninth at First Spring Tournament

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The IPFW men's golf team finished tied for ninth place alongside Edward Waters at the Gary Freeman Spring Invitational. The squad wrapped up play with a 54-hole tournament score of 985.

The team competed at the LPGA International Golf Course - Hills Course, a par-72, 6,913-yard course.

Florida Atlantic took home the team tournament victory with a two-day total score of 902. Marcus Plunkett of Army claimed the medalist honors, leading the 80-player field with a 4-over-par 220.

David Watterson paced the Mastodons, finishing with a 54-hole score of 240 and tying for 25th.

Devin Jenkins finished tied for 34th with a two-day total of 243. In a tie for 44th was Drake Devereux shooting a 250 for the tournament. Daniel Shepard finished two strokes back in 50th place. Clark Tiller rounded out the team scoring for the 'Dons in 59th, recording a 266 for the weekend.

Tyler Meyer, who competed as an individual, carded a 54-hole score of 260 to finish 56th.

IPFW returns to action March 14-15 at the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.
