Men's Golf Closes Out the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - The IPFW men's golf team shot its lowest round of the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular, a 324, to finish the tournament in 18th place with a two-day score of 980.
George Mason hosted the tournament at the par-72, 6,884-yard El Campéon Golf Course at the Mission Inn Resort. Virginia Tech captured the team title with a two-day score of 3-under-par 861, 22 strokes better than second place East Carolina. Austin Powell of Pennsylvania won medalist honors by two strokes with a 54-hole score of 6-under-par 210.
David Watterson led the Mastodons on the weekend finishing with a score of 243 and tying for 84th. Devin Jenkins turned in a final score of 245 and finish tied for 87th. Two strokes back in a tie for 90th with a 54-hole score of 247 was Drake Devereux. Clark Tiller shot a tournament total 249 to finish tied for 94th place. Daniel Shepard closed out the scoring for the 'Dons in a tie for 97th at 253.
Tyler Meyer compete as an individual and placed tied for 100th, shooting a 258 for the weekend.
IPFW competes next at the three-day Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate beginning March 22 in Williamsburg, Virginia.
