
Women's Soccer Looks to Snap Skid Against Cardinals

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW women's soccer team will look to snap its three-match losing skid on Sunday afternoon, when the squad hosts the Ball State Cardinals at 2:30 p.m. in the second match of a women's / men's doubleheader at the Hefner Soccer Complex.

SCOUTING THE MASTODONS
IPFW closes a two-game homestand today looking for its first win of the 2015 season. The Mastodons have been a strong first half team this season, and trail in the first half 1-0 combined in the three matches this season.
Leading the way offensively for IPFW has been Kallianne Mogler, who has scored once, while Rachel Good and Andie Lazzerini each have dished out one assist. Mogler and Good lead the team with six shots, while Tessa Edwards and Mayson Whitman each have five.
Defensively the squad is led by sophomore goalkeeper Kiley Dunning who has a 2.87 ERA in three matches, with 16 saves.
SCOUTING THE CARDINALS
Ball State comes into the weekend finale having won 2-of-3 matches this season, including a 2-1 win in the team's home opener over Wright State on Friday evening.
In that match, the Cardinals jumped out quickly, using two goals in the first 18 minutes of the game to stake themselves to a quick 2-0 lead, and held on late for a 2-1 victory over the Raiders. Abigail Boswell and Gabby Veldman each scored for the Cardinals, with Kelcy Fiser picking up an assist on the opening goal.
For the season Ball State is led by Veldman who has scored two goals, as four others have scored once, with the Cardinals out-scoring their opponents 6-3 on the season. Four different players have one assist on the season, as Boswell leads the team with 11 shot attempts over the three matches. In goal, Alyssa Heintschel has played the entire 270 minutes, picking up 11 saves and a 1.00 goals against average to go with one shutout in the season opener.

A trio of goals in the first 22 minutes of the match gave the Ball State Cardinals a 3-0 home victory at Briner Sports Stadium. The Cardinals got goals from Veldman (4:21), Madison Oyer (19:40), and Franziska Sottner (21:40) to provide all of the scoring in the contest.
