FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Fort Wayne women's volleyball team had a tough night on the court as the Mastodons fell to Oral Roberts 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-18).
Nicole Rightnowar led the 'Dons with 13 kills on the night to go along with seven digs. Somer Johnson added nine kills and six digs while Natalie Seiler had eight kills. Madison Jaqua finished with a match-high 31 assists to lead the team. Olivia Hahn tied for a match-high with 10 digs.
An early five-point run by ORU was too much for Fort Wayne to overcome late in the first set, after cutting the lead to one at 18-17. The Mastodons had a five-point run of their own in the second, but it was the Golden Eagles who closed out the frame on a 12-4 advantage. Oral Roberts jumped out the early lead in the final set by scoring the first three points, as the 'Dons were unable to overtake the lead.
Fort Wayne returns to the court when it travels to in-state rival IUPUI on October 18 for a 7 p.m. match.
