Fort Wayne Drops Match 4-1 at Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. - The Fort Wayne women's soccer team fell to Omaha on the road 4-1 on Sunday (Oct. 9).
Omaha struck first when Lydia Holtmann scored the first of her pair in the sixth minute.
Gabbie Mann scored her first goal of the season to equalize in the 33rd minute, knocking the ball off the Omaha keeper and into the net. Mann came off the bench and scored on her only shot attempt of the afternoon.
The Mavericks (4-8-2, 2-1-0 Summit) scored three times in the second half to secure the victory, getting a second goal from Holtmann at the hour mark. Carlie Cook scored twice in the last 16 minutes of play, with her second coming just 71 seconds before the final horn.
Fort Wayne (3-10-1, 0-2-1 Summit) finished with nine shots, four of which came from Deanna Hecht. Kallianne Mogler and Paityn Fleming each contributed a pair of attempts.
Freshman Amanda Cook played in goal for the full 90 minutes, pulling in five saves in her first start of the season.
The Mastodons will be back in action on Friday (Oct. 14) as they visit Tulsa, Oklahoma to face off against Oral Roberts at 8 p.m.
