11/16/2016 9:34:00 PM | Men's Basketball
NORMAL, Ill. – An early double-digit deficit proved to be too much for the Fort Wayne men's basketball team, as they fell 75-57 in a non-conference contest at Illinois State on Wednesday (Nov. 16) evening at Redbird Arena.
The Mastodons were done in by a 19-2 run by the Redbirds to open the contest. The stretch was fueled by a 4-of-4 Illinois State performance from beyond the arc to open the contest. Fort Wayne went to the half down 41-24 with Mo Evans scoring 14 in the first 20 minutes.
The 'Dons made a game of it in the second half, cutting the deficit to single-digits at 53-44 with 12 minutes left. But Fort Wayne could get no closer.
Evans finished with 19 points thanks to five 3-pointers. John Konchar added 12 points. Kason Harrell contributed 10 on 4-of-6 shooting.
The Redbirds out-shot Fort Wayne 46.8 percent (29-of-62) to 40.0 percent (20-of-50).
