Bunch Goes Off For Career-High 22 Points in Loss

BROOKINGS, S.D. - Allyson Bunch scored a career-high 22 points, including tying a career-best six 3-pointers, but the IPFW women's basketball team was unable to knock off Summit League co-leader South Dakota State, 92-64.
Bunch connected on 6-of-11 from long range and shot a career-high 7-of-17 from the floor. Keanna Gary and Courtney Ogle each added 12 points while Gary led the team with six rebounds. Rachel Rinehart tied a game-high with six assists.
IPFW and SDSU traded three-pointers early on as the 'Dons held a 12-9 lead midway through the opening quarter. The Jackrabbits scored the next 10 points before Isis Parker and Bunch closed the gap to three at the end of the opening quarter.
The Jacks out-scored the Mastodons 11-0 over the final 2:43 of the second period as the 'Dons trailed 47-29 at halftime.
South Dakota State continued its run to what would be a 37-8 advantage over a stretch of 11:56, as IPFW found itself trailing 73-37 with 1:05 left in the third. The Mastodons out-scored SDSU 24-17 in the fourth quarter, but the 'Dons were unable to overcome the deficit.
As a team, IPFW tied a season-high with 12 three-pointers on 30 attempts (40%). On the night, the Mastodons shot 22-of-57 (38.6%) from the field while making 8-of-15 (53.3%) at the charity stripe.
IPFW returns home to take on Oral Roberts February 17 for a 7 p.m. game.
