MACOMB, Ill. -- IPFW, ranked No. 14 in this week's Mid-Major Top 25, will play at Western Illinois University in a Summit League men's basketball game Thursday night, February 25, at Western Hall in Macomb, Illinois beginning at 9 p.m. The Mastodons (22-7, 11-3 Summit League) of second-year head coach Jon Coffman are led in scoring by redshirt-senior Max Landis/Indianapolis (19.1), redshirt-freshman John Konchar/Chicago, Ill. (12.7) along with seniors Joe Reed/Greenwood (10.3) and Michael Calder (10.0). The Leathernecks are coached by head coach Billy Wright, who is in his second season, and are led in scoring by junior Garret Covington (17.6) and senior J.C. Fuller (12.7).

Western Illinois is 9-16 overall, 2-12 in The Summit League, following a league home loss to South Dakota State (87-67) Feb. 20. The Leathernecks are coached by head coach Billy Wright, who is in his second season at WIU. Western Illinois has two scoring in double-figures, including junior Garret Covington (17.6) and senior J.C. Fuller (12.7). The Leathernecks have averaged 69.6 points, while allowing 70.0 points, and are 6-5 in home games this season, 1-5 in the league. WIU is currently ninth in the Summit League standings.

The Mastodons have averaged 80.3 points, while allowing 76.3 points, and are 9-5 in road games this season, 4-2 in the league. IPFW is currently first in the Summit League standings.
Last Time Out
DeAngelo Stewart scored a career-high 23 points to lead IPFW to a 94-90 Summit League home win past Omaha. The Mastodons scored the first seven points of the contest in front of a raucous, sell-out capacity crowd of 1,832. Appropriately enough, the three seniors who were recognized during a special pregame ceremony scored the first seven … Reed opened with a three-point field goal, followed by two free throws from Calder and a jumper from Landis. Omaha closed to within 7-5 at 15:42, but the IPFW used a 9-0 run to lead 16-5 at 13:25, and extended the run to 16-4 for a 23-9 advantage at 11:34. Konchar started the outburst with a slam dunk and finished it with a jumper, while Stewart came in off the bench and made two three-pointers during the run. It was 54-44 at the intermission behind 13 first-half points by Stewart, while Konchar also had 13 at the break and Landis had 11. The Mastodons continued their momentum with a 10-4 run to start the second half for its largest lead of the night at 64-48 with 17:02 on the clock – getting two more three-pointers from Stewart and another dunk by Konchar. The Mavericks battled back and managed to tie it for the first time at 88-88 with 1:32 remaining, however, IPFW secured its win in the regular season home finale with an old-fashioned three-point play by Calder at 1:07, 2-2 free throws from Landis at :14.7 and 1-2 free throws by Reed at :02.5.
