Mastodons Fall to Lindenwood In Blueout Match

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The IPFW men's volleyball was unable to overcome MIVA opponent Lindenwood as the Mastodons fell in straight sets (24-26, 22-25, 19-25). Andrew Sellan earned 12 kills and eight digs while Tony Price nabbed nine kills and six digs. Luis Bertran earned 11 digs, bringing his career total to 842. David Frazee put down six kills and a service ace while Michael Keegan had a team-high 24 assists, adding six digs for IPFW.
Sellan opened the match with a kill and the 'Dons got off to an early 7-4 lead. However, three-straight points from the Lions to quickly tie the match. IPFW would battle bake to come within a point, 18-19, but Lindenwood would eventually take the set 26-24.
IPFW and Lindenwood started the second set going point-for-point, until the Lions pulled away taking a 13-10 lead over the 'Dons. Five-straight points from IPFW quickly gave the 'Dons an 18-15 lead over the Lions. However, the Mastodons were unable to hold off the Lions as they went on a 10-4 run to take the second set.
The Blue and White struggled to connect early in the third set, giving the Lions an early 6-1 advantage. Three consecutive kills from Sellan, Frazee, and Neace, respectively, got IPFW within two points of Lindenwood, 10-8. However, the Lions continued to widen the gap, eventually taking the final set 25-19.
IPFW takes a break from conference play and faces Lourdes and Charleston on March 4 and 5, respectively. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. on Arnie Ball Court.
