FARGO, N.D. – A.J. Jacobson scored a game-high 22 points to lead North Dakota State to a 62-46 men's college basketball Summit League home win past IPFW Saturday at Scheels Arena in Fargo, North Dakota. The host Bison (16-8, 6-4 Summit League) scored the first 11 points of the contest, were ahead 37-25 at halftime and led the entire contest against the visiting Mastodons (19-7, 8-3 Summit League), who were led by senior Michael Calder/Fort Lauderdale, Fla. with 18 points. IPFW will be idle during the upcoming week before hosting the University of Denver next Saturday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. at the Hilliard Gates Sports Center in Fort Wayne.
IPFW, ranked No. 15 in the latest The CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25, fell behind 11-0 at 15:36 after Malik Clements opened the contest with consecutive three-point field goals followed by a layup and another three-pointer by Jacobson. The Mastodons closed to within 15-11 at 11:29 following back-to-back three-pointers from Calder that followed a basket inside by senior Joe Reed/Greenwood (15:14) and a three-pointer by junior DeAngelo Stewart/Detroit, Mich. (13:51), off the bench. NDSU took its largest lead of the opening half, 29-16, on a three-pointer by Khy Kabellis at 5:14. A pair of free throws from redshirt-senior Max Landis/Indianapolis at 2:31 made it an eight-point game, 31-23, but the Bison extended the margin to 37-25 at the intermission.
IPFW began the second half with a 9-2 run to close to within 39-34 at 14:06, forcing a timeout by NDSU. Redshirt-junior Brent Calhoun/Indianapolis scored down low for IPFW to make it 44-36 at 12:00, but that would be as close as the Mastodons would get the remainder of the game. NDSU scored the next six points to lead 50-36 with 10:31 on the clock, getting four quick points from Jacobson, and the Bison maintained a double-digit advantage to the final horn.

Landis (1-6 3FGs), who scored a school-record 44 points with a school-record 11 three-pointers at South Dakota on Thursday night, finished with nine points for the Mastodons.
