
Men's Golf Claims Title, Schroeder Wins Medalist Honors

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The IPFW men's golf team claimed its third title in program history as the Mastodons carded a two-day 588 to win the Lonnie Barton Invitational. IPFW's Zach Schroeder also claimed medalist honors, becoming the first Mastodon golfer to do so.
Hosted by LIU-Brooklyn at the par-72, 6,917-yard LPGA International - Jones Course, IPFW took home the trophy by 13 strokes over second place Wagner after shooting a 302 on the final day.
Schroeder claims IPFW's first individual title with a 36-hole score of 1-under-par 143, winning by three strokes over three golfers who tied for second. The group included teammate Jacob Groninger who finished the tournament as co-runner-up with a final score of 2-ofer-par 146. Two strokes back and tied for seventh place was Josh Keating. Devin Jenkins closed out the invitational tied for 15th with a two-day score of 151. Wrapping up the tournament for the Mastodons in a tie for 39th was Daniel Shepard with a final total of 162.
Individually, Oliver Gibson picked up a top-10 finish by carding final score of 148 and tying for seventh place. Dan Wert concluded his tournament tied for 27th, recording a 156.
IPFW returns to action March 12 and 13 for the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular.
