
Chesnutt Earns Top-5 Finish at Benbow Invitational

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The IPFW women's golf team shot a final-round 325 to finish the Benbow Invitational in sixth place with a 36-hole score of 650.
Hosted by Butler at the par-72, 6,039-yard Jacksonville Beach Golf Course, the host Bulldogs captured the team title by two strokes over Evansville with a two-day score of 631. Kayla Katterhenry of Evansville won on the first hole of a playoff over Christine Cates of Butler after both finished at 6-over-par 150.
Madison Chesnutt led the Mastodons, tying for fifth place and shooting a two-day score of 155. Chesnutt fired a career-best 3-over-par 75 in the final round. Brenna Sherwood finished in a tie for 10th overall with a final tally of 159. Paige Bird posted her lowest round of the season on the final day with an 82 and ending the tournament in a tie for 28th place with a 36-hole score of 168. Abigail Carlsen wrapped up her week in a tie for 34th, shooting a combined 173. Candi Keller closed out the team scoring for the 'Dons with a 177 to finish tied for 43rd.
Jenna Kurosky and Hannah Jennings each played as an individual for the Mastodons. Kurosky carded a 173 to finish tied for 35th while Jennings finished 55th overall with a final score of 205.
IPFW goes right back to work on the course when it begins the two-day Bulldog Florida Invitational March 9 with 9:30 a.m. shotgun start.
