Schroeder Leads After Day One at Summit League Championship

NEWTON, Kan. - IPFW men's golfer Zach Schroeder wrapped up the first round of the Summit League Championship as the overall leader, shooting a 2-under-par 70 to lead by one stroke. Schroeder and the Mastodons enter day two in third place with a team score of 305.
Hosted at the par-72 Sand Creek Station Golf Club, the course is being played at 6,733 yards. South Dakota State leads the field by 12 strokes with a team score of 292 on the day.
The 'Dons enter day two one stroke back of second place Omaha and one shot up on Denver.
Schroeder was one of two players to record a rounder under-par. He was the lone player in the tournament to record an eagle, knocking it down on the par-5, 498-yard No. 16. Schroeder also tied for the lead with four birdies on the day.
Josh Keating carded a pair of birdies on the round, finishing tied for 19th with a 77. Two strokes back in a tie for 24th are Devin Jenkins and Jacob Groninger. Jenkins recorded two birdies for the day while Groninger birdied No. 16. Dan Wert shot even-par on the front nine to finish the round with an 81 and tie for 37th overall.
The second round of the Summit League Men's Golf Championship will begin at 9 a.m. ET on May 2 off the No. 1 tee at the Sand Creek Station Golf Club.
