Fort Wayne Drops Exhibition At Oakland 3-1

ROCHESTER, Mich. – Fort Wayne women's soccer played their only exhibition contest of the 2016 campaign on Sunday (Aug. 14), falling 3-1 at Oakland.
The lone goal for the Mastodons came in the 72nd minute. Gabbie Mann beat Oakland goalkeeper Sophia Braun when Bruan charged for a ball. Mann placed her shot into the left corner of the net. Mann was assisted by fellow freshman Kendall Quinn.
Mann's tally made it a 2-1 deficit but it was not enough to overcome goals by Sydnye Gagner in the 23rd and 77th minute for Oakland.
The match saw 25 different 'Dons earn playing time. Chloee Foor and Deanna Hecht each took two shots and Mayson Whitman and Katrina Sutherly each produced a shot on goal.
Kiley Dunning played 90 minutes in goal and recorded seven saves.
Fort Wayne will begin the 2016 regular season with a road contest with the Western Michigan Broncos on Friday, Aug. 19 at 4 p.m. in Kalamazoo, Mich. The Broncos are coming off a 2-2 exhibition tie with IUPUI.
