Women's Soccer Falls in Overtime in Regular Season Opener

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Fort Wayne women's soccer team opened their regular season with free soccer at the WMU Soccer Complex on Friday (Aug. 19) as the Mastodons fell in overtime 2-1 to the Western Michigan Broncos.
Freshman Chloee Foor led the way for the Mastodons, netting a goal in the 25th minute with the first shot on goal of the game. She got her first career goal as junior Kallianne Mogler logged her sixth career assist, her first of the season.
Fort Wayne's defense stayed tough throughout the match, not allowing any shots on goal until the 61st minute.
Senior Kiley Dunning started in the net for the 'Dons, making four saves. A near-goal in the 62nd minute almost gave Western Michigan the equalizer, but Dunning managed to snag the loose ball after slipping on the wet grass.
The equalizer that forced overtime was scored by Western Michigan in the 85th minute by Alex Ruffer after a Bronco corner kick.
The game-winning goal was scored at the 91:33 mark by Candice Uhl.
The Mastodons will be back in action on Sunday (Aug. 21) against the Eastern Illinois Panthers in Westfield, Indiana.
