Women's Volleyball Wins on Final Day of Asics Invitational

TOLEDO, Ohio - The Fort Wayne women's volleyball team ended the weekend on a high note as the Mastodons took down Saint Francis (PA) 3-1 (25-12, 30-32, 25-15, 25-19) on the final day of the Toledo/Asics Invitational.
Somer Johnson led all players with a season-high 20 kills to go along with a match-high two aces. Nicole Rightnowar earned her third double-double of the season with 16 kills and 10 digs. Natalie Seiler finished with a season-high 13 kills.
Madison Jaqua also earned her third double-double of the year with 48 assists and 14 digs. Olivia Hahn finished with a match-high 24 digs. Je'Bria Green led all players with six blocks, including three solo.
The Mastodons dominated the opening set, closing it out on a 13-3 advantage. In the second, the 'Dons battled in their longest set of the season. Leading 30-29, Fort Wayne was unable to hang on as the Red Flash scored the next three points to take the set.
The 'Dons returned to their dominant ways in the third set, jumping out to an early 6-2 lead and never looking back. Leading by one in the final frame, 16-15, the Mastodons scored seven of the next eight points to take the set and the match.
Rightnowar was rewarded for her play during the weekend by being named to the All-Tournament Team.
Fort Wayne returns to action for the Hofstra/Stony Brook Invite September 16-17.
