Evansville Edges Fort Wayne 3-1 In Non-League Match

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Fort Wayne men's soccer fell 3-1 on Sunday (Sept. 11) afternoon at Evansville in a non-conference contest.
The teams played a scoreless first half with both clubs taking five shots in the first 45 minutes.
It was in the second half when Evansville took control of the contest. Jared Robinson scored in the 47th minute on a header off a deflected free kick. The Purple Aces made it 2-0 in the 52nd minute when Caleb Williams scored on a goal assisted by Simon Weaver and Ryan Koenig. Six minutes later Weaver snuck behind the keeper on a breakout and tapped it in the net to make the score 3-0.
The Mastodons got on the board at 76:53 on a penalty kick goal by Thilo Korperich. He now owns four goals on the season.
For the match, the Mastodons held a 14-10 edge in shots.
Evansville moves to 3-2-1 with the win. Fort Wayne falls to 3-3-0. The Mastodons return to action on Wednesday (Sept. 14) in a non-conference contest against Northern Kentucky.
