Mastodons Tame the Dragons at Home with 2-0 Victory

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Behind a first half goal from Paityn Fleming, the Fort Wayne women's soccer team toppled the Tiffin Dragons 2-0 at Hefner Soccer Complex on Sunday (Sept. 18).
Fort Wayne (3-7-0) took the lead in the 19th minute when Fleming headed a free kick from Katrina Sutherly over the head of the Tiffin keeper into the top right corner of the net. This was Fleming's first goal of the season and Sutherly's first assist.
In the second half, Kallianne Mogler was fouled in the Tiffin goalie box, so she was rewarded with a penalty kick. She netted the penalty in the lower left corner to give the 'Dons a 2-0 lead with 23 minutes left in regulation.
In addition to the scoring plays, there were several 'Dons that put up several shots on goal, finishing with 16 in Fort Wayne's stat line. Mogler and Andie Lazzerini contributed four, Deanna Hecht had three and Hannah Kroger chipped in two.
Kiley Dunning earned the shutout for the Mastodons, recording five saves, pushing her Summit League leading total to 75.
The Mastodons will be back in action for their final nonconference match on Sunday (Sept. 25) when the Indiana State Sycamores visit Fort Wayne at 1 p.m.
