
Jenkins in Third Place After Day One of NKU Fall Classic

BATAVIA, Ohio - Devin Jenkins sits in third place to lead the Fort Wayne men's golf team after day one of the NKU Fall Classic. Through 36 holes, the Mastodons are in fifth place with a team score of 298-288-586.
Hosted by Northern Kentucky at the par-71 Elks Run Golf Club, the tournament is being played at 6,845 yards. Dayton holds a nine-stroke lead after the first day over Oakland with a team score of 567. Nick Paxson of Dayton and Mac Norton from Oakland are tied atop the 100-player field with scores of 3-under-par 139.
The 'Dons enter the final round two shots back of fourth place Robert Morris. Jenkins led Fort Wayne on the day at 2-under par 140. Jenkins recorded three birdies during the first round to shot an even-par 71 before capping off the day with a 2-under-par 69 with two biddies and 16 pars. Jenkins' 36-hole score is tied for the fifth lowest in program history.
Keegan Bronnenberg shot rounds of 73 to finish the day tied for 15th with a 4-over-par 146. Three shots back in a tie for 27th with rounds of 73-76-149 is Zach Schroeder. David Watterson carded a 1-under-par 70 during the second round to finish the day tied for 60th with a 36-hole score of 153. Cody White rounded out the team scoring for the 'Dons with scores of 81-76-157 to enter the final round tied for 78th.
Playing as an individual, Josh Keating carded rounds of 74-76-150 to finish the day tied for 38th.
The final round of the NKU Fall Classic will be a 9 a.m. shotgun start on Monday, September 25.
