Mastodons Tied for Fifth After Day One in New York

VERONA, N.Y. - After day one of the Turning Stone-Tiger Intercollegiate, the Fort Wayne men's golf team is tied for fifth with a 36-hole score of 602 (304-298).
Hosted by Missouri as the par-72, 6,857-yard Turning Stone Resort - Kaluhyat Course, Texas A&M holds a seven-stroke lead over the host Tigers with a team score of 566. Chandler Phillips and Kavan Eubank of Texas A&M are tied atop the individual leaderboard with scores of 6-under-par 138.
The Mastodons enter the final round tied with Chattanooga and Villanova, seven shots back of fourth place Cleveland State.
Devin Jenkins led the 'Dons on the day tied for 20th with a two-round score of 75-73-148. Jenkins recorded seven birdies on the day, five of which came during the second round. Playing in his first collegiate tournament, Keegan Bronnenberg carded rounds of 78-72-150 to finish tied for 26th place on the day.
One shot back in a tie for 31st is Josh Keating with scores of 77-74-151. Keating came out ready to go as he eagled the 530-yard par-5, first hole. Zach Schroeder record four birdies on the day to finish tied for 40th after shooting rounds of 74-79-153. David Watterson rounded out the team scoring for Fort Wayne with identical rounds of 79-79-158 to enter the final day in 58th place.
The final round of the Turning Stone-Tiger Intercollegiate will be an 8 a.m. shotgun start on Monday, September 4.
