Mo Evans Takes Second In Career 3-Pointers In Setback At NDSU

FARGO, N.D. – Despite 28 points from Mo Evans, Fort Wayne men's basketball fell 89-83 at North Dakota State on Thursday (Jan. 19) evening at the Scheels Center.
Evans finished 9-of-13 from the floor with a 6-of-8 performance from beyond the arc. In the contest he passed Ben Botts to move into second in career 3-pointers in Fort Wayne history. Evans now owns 240 3-pointers. He is nearing first place all-time at Fort Wayne. That spot is held by Nick Wise (1999-02) who made 246 in his career.
Thursday's game changed in the final 5:54 as NDSU finished the contest on a 15-3 run. Their push erased a six-point Fort Wayne lead. The final moments also featured a fire alarm in the Scheels Center which stopped play for 10 minutes. It came with Fort Wayne up 80-77 and 3:36 on the clock.
Once play resumed NDSU's Paul Miller hit a 3-pointer with 1:41 remaining to put the Bison up by four points, 84-80, only to see Evans drain a tough 3-pointer on the other end to make it a one-point game. But the 'Dons would get no closer as NDSU made five free throws down the stretch to put the game away.
NDSU controlled the opening half thanks to a 9-of-13 performance from three in the first 20 minutes. NDSU held a lead until the 12:44 mark of the second half when Evans made a four-point play to put Fort Wayne up 66-63.
NDSU finished the contest 13-of-22 from beyond the arc. Miller made 7-of-10 to score 33 points. Khy Kabellis had five 3-pointers. He totaled 25 points.
Bryson Scott had 18 points for the 'Dons. Kason Harrell totaled 16 points. Both made four 3-pointers in the game.
The Bison improve to 13-6 (5-1 Summit). Fort Wayne falls to 14-6 (3-3 Summit). The 'Dons are back in action on Saturday (Jan. 21) in a league game at South Dakota State.
