10/1/2017 11:00:00 AM | Women's Golf
INDIANAPOLIS - With the fall season winding down, the Fort Wayne women's golf team takes to the course for the Butler Fall Invitational October 2 and 3.
Event: Butler Fall Invitational
Host: Butler
When: October 2 (9 a.m. shotgun) and 3 (8:30 a.m. shotgun)
Where: Highland Golf & Country Club | Indianapolis, Ind.
Par: 70
Yardage: 6,035
Format: 36-hole stroke play with 18 holes each day
COMPETING TEAMS
Fort Wayne will be compete against 10 other teams. The Mastodons and host Butler will be joined by: Bellarmine, Evansville, Chicago State, Youngstown State, IUPUI, Marian, Indiana State, Delaware State and Indianapolis.
THE COURSE
During the course of its 90+ year history, the enjoyment of the game of golf has been at the heart of what Highland is. The course was designed by Willie Park Jr. and Bill Diddel. Part of this gift that Mr. Park and Mr. Diddel left Highland is a golf course that is fun for a very broad cross-section of skill levels. Designing a brutally hard golf course is a trivial exercise. The secret to great design is to build a golf course that is fun to play for all types of players yet presents a challenge to players of all skill levels. Highland has such a golf course. It is a golf course where many children have first learned the game, yet it is a test sufficient enough that it has twice hosted the Indiana Amateur. The wide variety of swings one can observe on the first tee speaks volumes to how many people consider Highland a great place for the game.
FORT WAYNE LINEUP
Paige Bird, Maggie Connelly, Monica Dorner, Jenna Kurosky and Linnzie Richner.
