
Fort Wayne Falls at North Dakota State on Sunday

FARGO, N.D. - Despite outshooting North Dakota State on Sunday (Oct. 22), the Fort Wayne women's soccer team fell to the Bison 4-0 on Dacotah Field.
The Mastodons outshot the Bison 25-17, but were unable to get any shots past the keepers of NDSU. The Bison on the other hand, quickly found the back of the net in the first half to take the lead that would hold until the end of the match. Britney Monteon had the game-winning goal for the Bison. Malley O'Brien scored just before the break to give the Bison a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.
Mariah Haberle tacked on two more goals in the second half to keep the Mastodons out of reach.
The Mastodons' 25 shots marked the most since September 18, 2016, when the 'Dons also had 25 shots against Tiffin. Twenty-five shots is the most a Fort Wayne team has had against a Division I opponent since 2012, when the 'Dons had 36 shots against North Dakota State. In the 2017 edition of this matchup, Deanna Hecht led Fort Wayne with seven shots and three on target, while Hannah Kroger added six with one on goal.
Eight Mastodons played the full 90 minutes. Haley Lydon started for the first time since September 10 against Valparaiso, and played for the whole game.
Fort Wayne drops to 1-15-0 (0-5-0 Summit League), while NDSU jumps to 7-9-0 (5-1-0 Summit League). The Mastodons return home for their final two matches of the season, with Denver visiting Fort Wayne on Friday (Oct. 27) and Oral Roberts coming to town for Senior Day on Sunday (Oct. 29).
