Rightnowar Earns 1000th Career Kill as Mastodons Sweep WIU

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Nicole Rightnowar earned her 1,000th career kill as the Fort Wayne women's volleyball team battled back in all three sets to sweep Western Illinois 3-0 (26-24, 25-22, 25-16).
Rightnowar became the 18th player in program history to join the 1,000-kill club, and the second since Steve Florio became head coach.
Rightnowar, Natalie Seiler and Katie Crowe all finished with a match-high 12 kills. Crowe also earned her seventh double-double of the season with 11 digs. Elizabeth Fuerst added seven kills while Sydney Boerst had five.
Elizabeth Britner led the way with a match-high 17 digs and Madison Jaqua had a match-high 45 assists.
The teams exchanged early lead changes in the first set, but the 'Dons trailed late 22-21. Fort Wayne closed out the set with a 5-2 advantage thanks to kills from Boerst, Crowe and Rightnowar's 1,000th. It was a similar story in the second as the Mastodons trailed early, before a 4-0 run put them up 12-10. The comeback story continued in the third set as Fort Wayne trailed 8-6, before rallying with four straight points to take a lead. WIU tied it at 10-10, but the Mastodons closed it out with a 5-1 run to take the lead and the match.
Fort Wayne heads to South Dakota State for an 8 p.m. ET match on Saturday, October 14.
