Women's Basketball Falls at No. 23 Wolverines

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Fort Wayne women's basketball team was unable to overcome an early deficit to the No. 23 ranked Michigan Wolverines, as the Mastodons fell 77-45 at the Crisler Center
Leading the way for the 'Dons was Jaelencia Williams with 13 points, as KeShyra McCarver added 10 points and two assists. De'Jour Young finished with eight points and a team-high nine rebounds. Kierstyn Repp contributed six points.
The national ranked Wolverines opened the game with a 10-0 run before Williams scored on a layup with 6:09 left in the first quarter. Michigan responded to the basket with a 17-0 run over the next 7:50. Fort Wayne shook off the early turnovers, ended the second quarter with a 14-4 run, as McCarver score nine points over a 3:13 stretch.
Fort Wayne continued its run to start the third, out-scoring Michigan 5-2 in the early minutes. From there, the Wolverines finished the period with a 12-4 advantage as the 'Dons would not pull closer down the stretch.
On the day, the Mastodons shot 16-of-47 (34%) from the field, 7-of-19 (36.8%) beyond the arc and 6-of-8 (75%) at the free throw line.
Fort Wayne returns home to host Maryville on Tuesday, November 19 for a 6 p.m. tipoff.
