Watterson Leads Mastodons After First Day in Georgia

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Through the first day of The Invitational at Savannah Harbor, the Fort Wayne men's golf team sits in a tie for eighth place with a 36-hole score of 297-303=600.
Hosted by William & Mary at the par-72, 7,287-yard The Club at Savannah Harbor, the host Pride holds a seven shot lead at 567 heading into the final round. Austin Morrison also of William & Mary sits atop the individual leaderboard by two strokes with a two-round score of 6-under-par 138.
Playing as an individual, David Watterson carded a 1-under-par in the opening round before shooting a 75 during the second to finish the day tied for 22nd with a 36-hole score of 146. During his second round, Watterson recorded three straight birdies on Nos. 11, 12 and 13.
Zach Schroeder (70-79) and Josh Keating (76-73) led the team scoring with combined scores of 149 on the day and are tied for 34th. Schroeder's 2-under-par 70 in the opening round came with four birdies as he finished with six on the day. Keating led the team with seven birdies over two rounds.
Devin Jenkins sits in 48th place after carding rounds of 76-76=152. Cody White is one stroke back in a tie for 49th with scores of 75-78=153. Dan Wert rounded out the team scoring for the 'Dons with a 79-76=155 and enters the final day tied for 56th.
The final round of The Invitational at Savannah Harbor will be tomorrow, February 21.
