Mastodons Ninth After Day One in Muncie

MUNCIE, Ind. - Through the first two rounds of the Earl Yestingsmeier Memorial Invitational, the Fort Wayne men's golf team is in ninth place with scores of 370-371-741.
Hosted by Ball State at the par-70, 6,438-yard Delaware Country Club, the tournament is using a play six, count five format. Eastern Kentucky leads the team standings with a 36-hole score of 714. Tied atop the individual leaderboard with a 4-under-par 136 are Alec Dutkowski from Taylor and Noah Combs of Eastern Kentucky.
The Mastodons enter the final round three shots back of eighth place Butler and eight shots behind fifth place Valparaiso.
Zach Schroeder led the 'Dons in a tie for eighth place with a 1-over-par 141 (69-72). Schroeder finished the day with nine birdies, third most in the field. Ending the day tied for 15th with rounds of 74-71-145 is David Watterson. One shot back in a tie for 22nd is Cody White (75-71), who recorded the only eagle of the day for the Mastodons during the second round on No. 3, a 264-yard par-4. In a tie for 63rd place is Devin Jenkins with scores of 75-79-154. Josh Keating is one stroke back in a tie for 68th, carding rounds of 77 and 78. Dan Wert closed out the team scoring with a 78-83-161 and is tied for 80th overall.
Playing as an individual, Tyler Meyer led the 85-player field with 26 pars on the day, finishing in a tie for 57th place with scores of 77-76-153.
