Men's Golf Finishes Regular Season Ninth at BSU Invitational

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Fort Wayne men's golf team concluded its regular season carding a final-round 375 to finish the Earl Yestingsmeier Memorial Invitational in ninth place with a two-day score of 1,116.
Hosted by Ball State at the par-70, 6,438-yard Delaware Country Club, the tournament used a play six, count five format. Eastern Kentucky captured the team title with a 54-hole score of 1,076. Ball State's Michael VanDeventer and Taylor's Alec Dutkowski shared the individual medalist honors with two-day scores of 2-under-par 208.
The 'Dons finished three strokes behind eighth place Butler and eight shots back of sixth place Valparaiso and Wright State.
Zach Schroeder and David Watterson led the team on the weekend in a tie for 26th place with scores of 222. Watterson carded three birdies in the final round to shoot a 77 while Schroeder fired an 81. Cody White finished the day with a 77 to conclude the tournament in a tie for 31st place with a 223. Josh Keating led the Mastodons on the day with a 72, including three birdies and an eagle on the par-4, 302-yard No. 11, to finish with a 227 and tie for 48th overall. Finishing tied for 62nd is Devin Jenkins, carding a 77 on the day and a 231 for the tournament. Dan Wert also tied for the team lead on the day to round out the scoring with a 72 to finish tied for 66th at 233.
Tyler Meyer competed as an individual finishing tied for 69th, shooting an 82 for the round and 235 for the tournament.
The Mastodons now head to the Summit League Tournament April 30 through May 2 in Newton, Kansas.
