Schroeder Finishes Third at Hoosier Invitational

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Zach Schroeder carded a 2-under-par 69 in the final round of the Hoosier Invitational to finished tied for third and help the Fort Wayne men's golf team tie for fifth place. The Mastodons recorded a team score of 293 on the final day to tie Toledo with a 54-hole score of 870.
Hosted by Indiana University at the par-71 IU Golf Course, the tournament was played at 6,813 yards. Charlotte took home to team title with a two-day score of 11-under-par 841. Peter Webb from Valparaiso captured the individual medalist honors with a 7-under-par 206.
The Mastodons bested Summit League rivals Western Illinois (875) and IUPUI (884) while finishing seven shots back of fourth place Drake.
Schroeder recorded five birdies on the round, including three on the front nine to finish it at 3-under-par 33. He finished the weekend with a 54-hole score of 3-under-par 210. Cody White carded a pair of birdies in his round to finish with a 74 and tie for 23rd place at 217 for the tournament. Josh Keating (74) and Devin Jenkins (76) each recorded three birdies on the day to finish one stroke apart with scores of 223 and 224, respectively. Keating was tied for 49th while Jenkins finished tied for 51st. David Watterson carded an 80 to wrap up the tournament for the Mastodons with a 231 to tie for 67th overall.
Fort Wayne's final tune-up before the Summit League Championship will be the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational April 14 and 15.
