Mastodons Unable to Comeback in Summit League Opener

TULSA, Okla. - The Fort Wayne women's volleyball team was unable to hang on to an early lead as the Mastodons dropped their Summit League opener to Oral Roberts 3-1 (17-25, 25-21, 33-31, 25-12).
The 'Dons were led by Nicole Rightnowar with her 10th double-double of the season, finishing with 15 kills and 10 digs. Elizabeth Fuerst added 12 kills, while Sydney Boerst had 11 kills and hit .588 on the night. Madison Jaqua dished out a match-high 42 assists to lead the Mastodons. Elizabeth Britner led Fort Wayne with a match-high 16 digs.
The 'Dons dominated the opening set, scoring nine of the first 10 points to take the frame. The Mastodons scored the opening point of the second set, but a 7-2 run by Oral Roberts gave them the lead and the set. In their longest set of the season, Fort Wayne was unable put the Golden Eagles away, as ORU score three straight at the end to earn the win. In the fourth, the Mastodons fell behind early 5-1 and were unable to make the comeback, dropping the set and the match.
Fort Wayne continues its road trip when it travels to Denver on Sunday, September 24 for a 3 p.m. ET match.
