Schroeder Shoots Fifth Lowest Round in Program History

BATAVIA, Ohio - Fort Wayne men's golfer Zach Schroeder carded a 3-under-par 68 during the final round of the NKU Fall Classic, tying the fifth lowest round in program history. The Mastodons ended the tournament with a 305 on the final day to finish in ninth place with a two-day score of 905.
Hosted by Northern Kentucky at the par-71 Elks Run Golf Club, the course was played at 6,845 yards. Butler captured the team title with a 54-hole score of 868. Nick Wilkins from Morehead State won the individual medalist honors, shooting a two-day score of 1-under-par 212.
Schroeder's 68 was tied for the lowest score of the day and came during a bogey-free round that included three birdies. He finished tied for 29th with a three-round score of 225. His 68 is tied for the fifth lowest round in program history and is the lowest round since former Mastodon Jacob Groninger also carded a 68 on October 5, 2015. Schroeder's final-round score is tied for the best third round score by a Mastodon, and is tied for the fourth lowest on a par-71 course.
Eric Brinker led Fort Wayne in the tournament, shooting a 75 in the final round to finish tied for 12th with a 220. Callahan Elzey finished tied for 24th, leading the team with four birdies on the day to shoot a 76 and finish with a 224. Zac Turi and Cody White both carded rounds of 86 to close out the tournament. Turi finished tied for 72nd with a 240 while White tied for 78th with a 243.
Playing as an individual, Parker Deakyne carded a 79 for the round and finish tied for 72nd place with a tournament total of 240.
Fort Wayne next competes at the Fighting Irish Classic hosted by Notre Dame October 8 and 9.
