Men’s Cross Wins Silver Race At Greater Louisville Classic

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Fort Wayne men's cross country won the Silver event at the 2017 Greater Louisville Classic on Saturday (Sept. 30). The Mastodons used a team score of 15 to win the 8K event. Their combined time of 2:13:10.21 was the best of all 41 (Division I and non-Division I) teams in the race.
Among NCAA Division I competitors, Logan Kitchen finished first with a time of 26:11.69. Sam Williamson was second, less than 10 seconds behind Kitchen at 26:20.09. Alex Barton followed for the 'Dons, taking third (26:33.28).
Bret Unger grabbed fifth, stopping the clock in 26:59.73. Robert Peck (27:05.42) and Sammy Moran (27:15.21) finished directly behind Unger.
Gabe O'Keefe was ninth (27:38.59), Kurt Unger took 10th (27:40.19), Connor Shaffer was 11th (28:05.80) and Austin Rockstroh (28:28.30) earned 12th.
The men return to the course on Oct. 13 at the Bradley Classic in Peoria, Illinois.
