Mastodons Sixth After Day One of FGCU Classic

ESTERO, Fla. - After day one of the Homewood/Hilton Garden Airport FGCU Classic, the Purdue Fort Wayne men's golf team sits in sixth place. The Mastodons carded team rounds of 310 and 312
Hosted by Florida Gulf Coast, the par-72 Old Corkscrew Golf Club is being played at 6,619 yards. Campbell leads the team standings with a 36-hole score of 591. Pontus Nyholm also of Campbell and Erik Lindwall of Eastern Kentucky are tied atop the individual standings with a 1-over-par 145.
Callahan Elzey led the Mastodons on the day, shooting rounds of 74 and 78, to finish at 152. Elzey carded five birdies in all, as he is tied for 13th. Zach Schroeder and Eric Brinker are tied for 22nd with 36-hole scores of 156. Brinker carded scores of 76 and 80, while Schroder finished with scores of 80 and 76. Schroder and Brinker also carded five birdies, while Brinker also recorded one of only four eagles in the tournament, coming during the first round on the par-5, 522-yard No. 3.
Cody White finished the day tied for 35th place with 160, shooting a pair of 80's. Clark Tiller rounded out the team scoring for the 'Dons in a tie for 43rd. Tiller carded rounds of 85 and 78 to finish the day at 163.
