Elzey Turns in Top 10 Performance as Mastodons Finish Fourth

WESTLAKE, Ohio - The Purdue Fort Wayne men's golf team finished the Tom Tontimonia Invitational in fourth place, shooting a two-day score of 880. The Mastodons carded a team score of 294 during the final round, second lowest by any team on the day.
Hosted by Cleveland State at the par-71 Lakewood Country Club, the course was played at 7,022 yards. Dayton captured the team championship with a 54-hole score of 869. Will Kurtz of Kent State won the individual medalist honors, shooting a 7-under-par 206.
The Mastodons finished ahead of five Horizon League schools on the week. The 'Dons finished six shots back of third place Cleveland State and eight back of second place Oakland.
Callahan Elzey led the Mastodons in the tournament, finishing in 10th place with a 54-hole score of 217, including a final-round 76. Two shots back in a tie for 11th is Eric Brinker. He led the 'Dons on the day with an even-par 71, finishing with four birdies, three of which came on consecutive holes, Nos. 15, 16 and 17. Zach Schroeder carded four birdies in the final round to shoot a 73 and finish tied for 21st with a two-day score of 222. One shot back in a tie for 30th is Clark Tiller, who carded a 75 on the final day. Zac Turi rounded out the scoring for the Mastodons with a 75 to finish tied for 49th at 229.
Playing as an individual, Parker Deakyne tied for 60th place with a 233, which included a final-round even-par 71. Cody White shot a 77 in the final round to finish with a 235 and tie for 64th.
Purdue Fort Wayne next competes at the Dayton Flyer Invitational October 15 & 16 in Kettering, Ohio.
