Konchar’s Near Triple-Double Not Enough In Setback To UMKC
12/1/2018 5:49:00 PM | Men's Basketball
FORT WAYNE, Ind. – John Konchar finished with 17 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists but Purdue Fort Wayne men's basketball fell to UMKC 90-73 on Saturday (Dec. 1) afternoon at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
For Konchar, it was his second consecutive double-double to bring his career total to 38. The senior tied a career high with nine free throws. He had only one turnover.
It wouldn't be enough as the Kangaroos forced 17 Mastodon turnovers but only committed three. Six Roos finished in double-digits including Rob Whitfield with a game-high 23. The Roos led 36-31 at the break despite making just one of their final 10 attempts from the floor in the first half. UMKC led the rest of the way thanks to making nine 3-pointers in the second half.
Kason Harrell had a team-high 21 points to bring his career total to 997. He also had two blocks to move his career total to 50. Dylan Carl tied a career high with 14 points. Jarred Godfrey totaled 10 points.
The 'Dons were 25-of-53 (47.2 percent) from the floor.
The game was part of the WAC/Summit League Challenge.
Purdue Fort Wayne was called for only six fouls in the game, their fewest since being called for six at South Dakota State on Jan. 21, 2017. Purdue Fort Wayne falls to 5-5. UMKC is now 2-7. The 'Dons stay at home for a non-league game against Akron on Wednesday (Dec. 5). Tip is set for 7 p.m.
