SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's volleyball team had a pair of players selected to the Summit League Academic All-League Team in setter Madison Jaqua and libero Elizabeth Britner, as voted on by the nine institution's faculty athletics representatives and sports information directors. A total of six student-athletes were named to the team and honored for their combined athletic and academic performances this season.
The Mastodons and South Dakota tied for the most selections, with Omaha and Oral Roberts each earning one. Britner and Jaqua become the first pair of Mastodons to be named Academic All-League since Hailie Ripley and Kendall Wienkes in 2013.
A management and marketing major, Jaqua holds a 3.96 GPA. She is the only repeat selection from a season ago and becomes the first Mastodon since Ripley in 2012 and 2013 to earn the honor twice. Jaqua closed out her career fourth in program history for assists and seventh in Summit League history. She also finishes her four years 19th in team history for career digs.
Britner holds a 3.95 GPA and is an English major. She earned the 1,000th dig of her career on the final day of the season, becoming the third Mastodon this year to reach the milestone. She is the 22nd player in program history to reach 1,000 digs. Britner ended the year fourth in the Summit League in total digs.
To be eligible for The Summit League Academic All-League team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale), completed at least one full academic year at the current institution and participated in 50 percent of their team's competitions.
