'Dons Shoot Top 10 Score, Brinker Cards 4 Under Par on Day One

SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Fort Wayne men's golf team carded the seventh lowest single-round score in program history as the Mastodons opened The Invitational at Savannah Harbor with a 4-under-par 284. The 'Dons carded a 309 in the second round to finish day one in 11th place with a 593.
Hosted by William & Mary at the par-72, 7,287-yard The Club at Savannah Harbor, the host Tribe lead the field with a 13-under-par 563. Three players are tied atop the individual leaderboard at 7-under-par 137.
Fort Wayne enters the final day one stroke back of Savannah State and Northern Kentucky.
Zach Schroeder leads the Mastodons in a tie for 18th place, shooting a 1-over-par 145 (73-72). Eric Brinker is tied for 21st at 2-over-par 146. Brinker carded a 4-under-par 68 during the first round, becoming only the fifth Mastodon golfer to shoot a 68 or lower on a par-72 course, and is tied for eighth lowest overall in program history.
Two shots back in a tie for 36th place is Callahan Elzey, shooting rounds of 72 and 76. Zac Turi carded scores of 71-84-155 and is tied for 63rd. Josh Keating rounds out the team scoring for the 'Dons in a tie for 80th with rounds of 80-83-163.
The final round of The Invitational at Savannah Harbor will be an 8:15 a.m. shotgun start tomorrow, February 18.
