Albrecht and Young Score in Double Figures as Mastodons Fall

DENVER - Hannah Albrecht and De'Jour Young each scored in double figures for the Fort Wayne women's basketball team, but the Mastodons dropped their road game at Denver 86-65.
Albrecht led the 'Dons with 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting, and tied a career-high with seven rebounds. Young finished with 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds. Anna Lappenküper led the way with a game-high four assists.
Fort Wayne scored the first points of the game on a pair of free throws from Lappenküper as the Mastodons held a lead early in the first quarter. With five minutes left, the Pioneers went on an 8-0 run to take the lead for good. Kierstyn Repp knocked down a three a time expired in the period, pulling the 'Dons within four, 24-20. Fort Wayne was unable to keep pace with Denver in the second quarter, as they were outscored 23-10.
For the game the Mastodons finished shooting 18-of-51 (35.3%) from the field, 11-of-26 (42.3%) beyond the arc and 18-of-23 (78.3%) at the free throw line.
Fort Wayne returns home for the first time in a month when the Mastodons host league leader South Dakota Wednesday, February 7 for a 6 p.m. tipoff.
