DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Fort Wayne men's golf team finished runner-up at the Gary Freeman Spring Invitational with a two-day score of 897.
Hosted by Bethune-Cookman at the par-72, 6,984-yard LPGA International, the host Wildcats won by four strokes over the Mastodons. Daniel Brennan also of Bethune-Cookman captured the individual medalist honors with a 2-over-par 218.
Fort Wayne carded a 301 for the day and finished 14 shots better than third place Sacred Heart. Individually, Zach Schroeder finished runner-up with a 75 on the day to finish the tournament at 3-over-par 219. Eric Brinker finished third, shooting a 222 for 54-holes.
Callahan Elzey also picked up a top-10 finish, shooting a 75 for the day and a 229 for the week. Clark Tiller carded a 232 over two days to finish tied for 15th. Cody White also tied for the team lead on the day with a 75 and tied for 22nd with a 54-hole score of 236.
Playing as an individual Josh Keating finished tied for 35th with a combined score of 247.
Fort Wayne will have a day off before returning to action at the LPGA International course for the Lonnie Barton Invitational March 4-5.
