Mastodons Set to Host Spring Classic at Brookwood Golf Club

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Fort Wayne women's golf team will host its annual Fort Wayne Spring Classic on April 2 and 3 at the Brookwood Golf Club. The Mastodons have hosted a tournament in each of the last 13 seasons, they previously hosted a Fall Classic from 2005-2008

Format: 36 holes will be played on Day 1 and 18 holes on Day 2 with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. each day.
COMPETING TEAMS
Fort Wayne will compete against five other teams. The Mastodons will be joined by: Chicago State, Indiana State, Detroit-Mercy, Green Bay and UIndy.
THE COURSE
Brookwood Golf Club is located on 210 acres just north of the Fort Wayne International Airport. It was designed in 1925 and is one of the oldest courses in the area. Voted "Fort Wayne's Favorite". We take pride that Brookwood was the host for the 1992 Ben Hogan Tour. Our course was designed to be enjoyable challenging enough that golfers skills are tested, but not overly challenging to the point that it's not fun to play. The course is built on a gently rolling landscape with a creek that meanders through the heart of it. Featuring bent grass fairways and the greens are a mixture of POA and bent grass. All the sand bunkers were rebuilt in 2005 and filled with lush white sand. The cart paths run throughout the course making play possible even in wet conditions. We are GPS mapped by many of the current GPS units. In addition to the regulation course, we also have a 9-hole par 3 course on the grounds. It is great for juniors, beginners or golfers just wanting to work on their short game.
